The development of the social-emotional competence model utilizing group playtherapy for young children

Abstract
The purpose of this study was to develop a social-emotional competence model utilizing group play therapy in order to promote young children¡¯s social-emotional competence. For this purpose, the research questions were established as follows: How is a social-emotional competence model utilizing group play therapy for young children composed? In research question, this model consists of objective, content, procedure, and teacher¡¯s role. The objectives of this model were set on the promotion of social and emotional competence for young children. These model were composed of 5 stages which are group play therapy stages: rapport stage¡æexpressing stage¡æregulating stage¡æapplying stage¡ægrowing?concluding stage. Every session proceeded in the oder of preparation¡æmain activity¡æfree play¡ægroup discussion¡æevaluation. The teacher¡¯s roles were planner, reflector, and interpreter to children¡¯s play activities and positive mediator and limiter to the group to promote social-emotional competence.
